Hi guys my gpu temp at idle is 57 - 60 degree without gaming i'm just browsing the web. the fan is not running unless the temp reach 60 degree. my room temperature is only 23 - 27 degree. attached image is the screenshot of my oc guru II. what bothers me is the gpu usage is 0% but the temp is high. also in the monitoring of the oc guru II the gpu is always 1215mhz but ive seen others that they were able to put it to 300+mhz only, maybe that is the reason. that is just only my assumption. What i did is use the msi afterburner fun curve to reduce the temp but my fan is always running that way. maybe i just did something wrong here.

Have a read of this article (specifically the section on idle power consumption) but in essence its burning anything from 10 - 35w at idle:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-ti,review-33214-7.html

Your card should automatically clock down to its minimum clock speed if not in 3D (gaming) mode. If its 'stuck' at its highest clock speed that is an issue, but I'm not an Nvidia card owner so can't tell you what settings control this feature in the Nvidia Control panel (if any)

Hi Sinistercr0c thanks for your answer, well appreciated. after playaround with my system and found out that the cause of it is my google chrome running in background even after reboot. What i did is passing this parameter in chrome "--disable-gpu-compositing" and that solved my problem. my chrome is running without giving too much load in my gpu. my current temperature now is 28 - 35 degree.

just an addition for future references; download Sysinternals Process Utilities (from technet.microsoft.com just search Process Explorer) which can show you gpu usage and what application is using it. so it would be an easier solution to find out what is using your gpu :)
