Gigabyte 990 Gaming and Windows HD locked

Built a new computer with the Gigabyte 990 gaming mobo, new AMD CPU. I reused a Zotec video card and the HD that was successfully running Windows 10. I also added 8gb of Ram that matched the 8 that was installed. There is also an Asus CD/DVD player installed. I cannot get the HD drive to unlock. Chkdsk says everything is fine with it. When I try the reset option on the win10 cd the HD is locked. I have searched and tried all I can find but nothing is working?

Did the videocard and hdd come out of another computer?

If it did, do a clean install of windows

Thats why it wont reset, you didnt install it on the system youre on now

If you can put hdd in old PC still, do this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change

otherwise win 10 will deactivate on new Motherboard

Even if that works, I dont think it'll reset.

If windows wasnt installed on this computer. The op will still have to do a clean install.

Oh yeah, he likely does need a fresh install, thats just so he doesn't also need a new licence.

That depends if the system he pulled the hdd of was this one. Or another computer.

I would say it was pulled out of a completely different system
