Hi this Is now the 3rd one of these cards I have brought and they both do the same thing but It also looks like thousands of other people are in the same boat with AMD's drivers but In case I am wrong I thought I would ask for help before I go mental...

First of all my specs:

Windows 8.1 (64bit)
8gb Corsair 1600 ram (brand new)
1tb sata hd (brand new)
500g sata hd
850w Corsair RM850 80+ gold (Brand new)
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 motherboard (6 months old)
Amd FX 6300 3.8mhz Cpu (brand new)
Gigabyte AMD Radeon R9 290X OC

Ok I think the specs are listed and I believe there more than fine to run this card, Also I would like to add I borrowed a Friends 780 Nvidia card and that works fine not a single issue.

My Problem:
Every game or 3D app I try to load locks up/ Freeze the computer and I have to hard reset it to fix the problem but all game crash within seconds... they all sit on the loading screening fine but when there about to place you in the game they all hand and crash with the R9 290X.

Things I have tried so far:

Set my bios to default settings.
put my cpu clocks back to default.
boot in safemood and wiped the old drivers using DDC.
booted back into normal windows with no internet just to be sure.
Reinstalled drivers but only checked: Display, HDMI, Catalyst.
Reinstalled windows 8.1 (complete whip).
Tried underclocking the gpu by around 5% but then I started getting Driver has stopped working but corrects itself.
I have modified the span speeds to the card is even cooler and stays cool.

All my temps are good my case is very well ventilated

I'm at the point of giving up I don't know what else I can do its pointless RMAing the card its happened with 3 different ones 🙁 so I doubt its the card its self or my system and my friends 780 worked perfect and my old 650ti was fab so much for this been an upgrade it feels like an expensive downgrade xD

Please please please can someone help me figure this out.

Many thanks in advance :)

Might have something here... I ended up after all day playing around downclocking my gpu and I managed to get into Crysis 2 and I have not been able to be in a game all day untill the clock I streamed what I was doing as I couldnt record normaly as when it crash I would lose the footage so i streamed so it saves check this out http://en-gb.twitch.tv/dzwrealkiller/b/512566177

Its not much but I have GPU-Z up showing temps and shit and I show where I downclocked the card and ran the game in 720p windowed then upped it to 1080p windowed and then 1080p full screen and I was happy then tried battlefiled 4 and it crashed right away 🙁 but could be onto something... I think the OC that came on the card might just be unstable. but i need someone that know what there looking at to take a look at the gpu-z
