I recently rebuilt my computer with a 2700x and the Aorus 1080ti and I seem to be getting less than average performance in games compares to benchmarks in games that I am seeing for a similar setup. However, the setup does well in benchmarks such as Time Spy in which i get a score of 9853. My current setup is an Asus X470-f motherboard, Ryzen 2700x, Aorus 1080ti, 16GB 3200 RAM. CPU is clocked at 4.2 and I just use the stock OC setting for the GPU. Could there be some tuning issues, or just bad luck.

Solution
1080P with a GTX 1080ti is a total waste, unless you running like 144hz. A 1080ti should be used with at least a 1440p monitor, if not a high refresh 1440p or 4k. You need to upgrade your monitor so you can run a higher resolution and take a little strain off of your CPU.

I play mostly Rainbow Six at 1080 ultra and get 180 roughly in the siege benchmark but notice an average of about 144-160 while actually playing. Even going to very high from ultra does not net me but about 5 frames. I have played other games but have not played with their settings as much. In Borderlands 2 I get 75-100, closer to 200s in caves and such on max settings depending on where I am. In the Witcher 3 I have went from seeing 105 on max to about 60-70 but I believe thats just because I am in White Orchard

Nothing to worry about.

At 1080P it's pretty hard on the CPU's trying to keep up with the GTX 1080Ti.

Ideally yes.

I did run my GTX 1080Ti on a 1080P monitor for awhile before I upgraded to a 1440P one.

It was fine, but then I have a 8086K CPU....

And to answer about borderlands 2, don't worry about your FPS in it. It has optimization issues when it comes to how much the framerate fluctuates. Your experience is similar to mine in that regard.
