Hello Community,

I just bought a GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce® GTX 1060 6G (rev. 2.0) Graphics card, but "cannot" find any unboxing and/or reviews for it anywhere. The videos I do find, are in Chinese, Indian, Portugese, etc. but none in English [no offense to anyone].There is also a Gigabyte AORUS GeForce® GTX 1060 6G 9Gbps (rev. 1.0) out there that keeps popping up when I try to review the one I bought (the rev. 2.0).

I went to Gigabytes website, and other than the description separating the two, "the specs are exactly the same". I'm totally confused! The rev 1.0 has 9Gbps & the rev 2.0 has 6Gbs. How can they have the same specs??? Both have 3-fans and look the same in style, color, height & length.

If anyone in the community has information on any of these cards, can you "please" inform me of the differences & where online is the rev.2.0 "unboxing & review"? Or if the cards are the same? Did I buy an inferior GPU? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

PS: Obviously, 9Gbs is better than 6Gbs, right? And the price difference is only $50-$60 for 9Gbs. I'm willing to return mine and get the 9Gbs if it's better.

"As expected, the new, faster memory makes no real differences to the standings."

*BUT... SIGH...

"The faster memory is giving immediate gains to the performance over the old model"

WHAT. THE. F***?

Oh...
"This gave us a score of 2479, a 3.8% improvement on the stock score of 2386."

Feel free to read both reviews, especially the OVERCLOCKING parts.

The core clock is a bit higher frequency. And the Memory Clock jumps from 8008 MHz to 9026 MHz .

AORUS GeForce® GTX 1060 6G (rev. 2.0)

Core Clock
Boost: 1860 MHz / Base: 1632 MHz in OC mode
Boost: 1835 MHz / Base: 1607 MHz in Gaming mode
(Reference Card Boost: 1708 MHz/ Base: 1506MHz)

Memory Clock
8008 MHz

vs

AORUS GeForce® GTX 1060 Xtreme Edition 6G 9Gbps (rev. 1.0)

Core Clock
Boost: 1873 MHz / Base: 1645 MHz in OC mode
Boost: 1847 MHz / Base: 1620 MHz in Gaming mode
(Reference Card Boost: 1708 MHz/ Base: 1506MHz)

Memory Clock

9026 MHz

The above GPU clock increase makes zero real difference. It's less than 1% and NVidia's Turbo Boost would compensate anyway (plus I'm sure overclocking will make this moot).

As per my link it's maybe a 4% difference in some applications to boost the memory that high. Practically speaking not something you'd notice.

There is only 2 memory configurations for the GTX1060, 3GB and 6GB. Then there is different memory speeds , most has 8000MHz (8Gbps) and 9000MHz (9Gbps). The revisions are usually to do with BIOS versions. The Rev2 will have an update/newer BIOS than Rev1. This does not mean you bought an inferior product. The cards are essentially exactly the same , just the BIOS versions differ. The higher the revision the new the BIOS.

Rev 1 : http://www.gigabyte.co.za/Graphics-Card/GV-N1060AORUS-6GD-rev-10#sp
Rev 2 : http://www.gigabyte.co.za/Graphics-Card/GV-N1060AORUS-6GD-rev-20#sp

If I understand Gigabyte's site correctly, looks like they moved away from the 9Gbps cards with Rev2. The higher memory speeds might have caused issues or the performance is not that much better.

Just my 2c.

I actually did a side by side comparison on www.newegg.com site. The rev. 2.0 has "zero" reviews in English, but, after checking your links, I decided to RMA my card, and ordered the GIGABYTE AORUS XTREME GeForce GTX 1060 6G REV 2.0, GV-N1060AORUS-X6GDR2 instead. The core & OC & Gaming Clock speeds are alot higher, therefore, I can expect to receive a better gaming experience.
Your search helped me decide on what to do. So, I can't wait to get my new card!
Thanks to everyone that posted. Great community!

PS: I found 'plenty' of reviews in English, with bench marks, and even a bunch of unboxing videos with comments. Truly helped alot in helping make my decision.

Same stats. Same CUDA cores. Same everything. I did an RMA and returned without even opening the box. Was disappointed. Ordered the GIGABYTE AORUS XTREME GeForce GTX 1060 6G REV 2.0, GV-N1060AORUS-X6GDR2 instead. Paid maybe $20 more, but, this new card has "better" reviews than most 1060 cards, and higher benchmarks. Only the MSI 1060 comes close, but, NOT higher clocks. Same everything as old card.

Thanks!
