[SOLVED] GIGABYTE B450 AORUS ELITE (rev. 1.0) bios update for 3rd gen ryzen

Hi,
I'm about to buy a ryzen 5 3600 and a gigabyte b450 aorus elite (rev1.0), but as I know it doesn't support it till I update the bios to version f40.
Will I be able to update it without a cpu that is already supported by the motherboard?

No....you need a CPU installed to update the BIOS.

And what if I'd try to boot in to the BIOS? Would it cook the cpu?

I wouldn't try to boot with any CPU knowing I didn't have the right BIOS.

I am on BIOS F5 right now for my Aorus B450 I Pro Wifi board (next is F30, 31, 32, 40, then 41). CPU = AMD Ryzen 5 2400 G.

How efficient are the newest updates with "Improve USB Device Compatibility"? Is it worthwhile for me to update my BIOS when I haven't seen any decrease in performance or compatibility issues? The other features do not seem relevant to me. What about AGESA?
