Hi everyone.
Apologies as this type of forum is extremely common, I have looked though other threads but cannot find a solution and have hit a brick wall.

I keep getting the following message:
"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key to continue", despite selecting the Boot device (my DVD burner) from the F12 Boot menu, removing the other registered boot device (one of my HDD) so it can't boot from anything other than the DVD drive and just won't install/ even load the bios I burned onto a DVD (the bios file is F4 from http://www.gigabyte.ie/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4781#bios - under Support & Downloads -> BIOS). The DVD burner is working correctly.

I have also looked through the BIOS menu by pressing Del, but can't see anything there that could be causing this irritating problem.

I had previous trouble with my pc's motherboard speaker omitting a deafening loud continuous beep, solved by removing my GPU from my build. Now wither I can get it to work with my new motherboard is beyond me (it isn't broken, it's from my old pc, which it worked perfectly with)

UPDATE: My GPU has a 6 pin atx socket that was never used in my old pc, furthermore do I need to use this?

My pc build consists of:
Intel i7-4790k 4th gen processor
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD7 TH motherboard - using integrated graphics HDMI for monitor
Corsair CMX8GX3M1A1600C11 XMS3 8GB (1x8GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL11 Performance Desktop Memory Module Ram
550w Stock Colorsit PSU
(Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS gpu) - not in use
2 0.5Tb Seagate sky box Sata II HDDs
1 old 180Gb HDD from my old PC

Any Help would be obliged. :)

Don't get that POST diagnostic, if you are able to finally boot, the POST is fine. Its probably the mother board issue. Like someone said, you may want to contact the support, see what they say and see if they can do anything for you. Hope all goes well.

If he contacted support they would most likely suggest a replacement motherboard which is exactly what you should do.

Hi, sorry the late reply, I took a day off from my pc after 2 days of continously hitting a brick wall.

I successfully installed windows 8.1, the supplier said to send it to him and he will get it tested and fixed. Well he said (he has not as of yet suggested a new board). There is about 23 months left in it's warranty.

It is no longer asking me for a boot device and when I try to use the bios disc (even using my 2nd dvd drive from the boot menu) it ignores it and goes straight to the highly confusing cluster f*** know as the windows 8.1 menu. Needless to say if and when I can actually get up and running I'm going for the windows 7 interface setting contained in 8.1.

It installed onto one of my hdds successfully and didn't give me an option to install any drivers or bios. (it stated it needed a drive not drivers [my hdds were coming up at first] unfortunately).

I'm at a menu which shows what looks like the fairly standard (and ugly) windows 8.1 menu with start as a heading on the right hand corner.

So you guys have any clue what to do from here, is actually ok to go???

I'm shocked the OS can even function considering that for 4th gen processor support you need to install the bios update (F4) that I was trying to install.

BTW about the display problems I tried using a hdmi to dvi-I cable, with a dvi to vga adapter and that doesn't work. (the reason I was trying to get it through vga was because you can actually adjust the exact screen size - unlike the hdmi on my screen).

Furthermore I haven't tried to install the oldest bios version as its just going straight to my OS. Also I didn't try the latest version as it's in Beta (I tried the most resent stable version).

Update: I can run discs fine from windows menu.
It appears when it was stating that boot device message it wanted the OS disc, not the BIOS software... I feel like an idiot lol

Thanks a mil to everyone who helped; it appears to be up and running, even my 4th gen processor is showing up.
