Gigabyte Dual Power System

Hello, I am building a new system based on the Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI and it came with a DPS card. I want to include the Zalman 7700 AlCu heatsink, but with the DPS card installed, the cooler doesn't fit.
So my question is, Is the DPS system neccesary? I have an Antec Truepower 550W power supply and that seems to provide power galore. Do you really need the DPS thing?

a Ga K8NXP-SLI without the extra pwm is just a GA-K8N-SLI.
I dont think they are selling that board yet, but it would have saved you a few dollars.
With the larger mosfets they used to use, the extra voltage regulators helped take some of the heat. Since the last shrink, it hasn't been as valid.
Not only do you not need the extra mosfets, but there is little or no point in using them any more.
