So with all those resources why can't they employ people with acceptable
levels of literacy in their tech support dept AND produce adequate manuals
to enable their customers to set up and use their products effevtively?
(See my post of 23rd March on RAID0 configuration for full saga.)

I while back i got the current Fry's cheapie PCChips motherboard. It did not
have a manual at all, just one sheet of paper showing connections. Its
effectively a $20 motherboard. How can they even ship the box from China for
that price?

Not impressed by any of that. Gigabyte still remain the most unreliable and
worst supported boards I have ever had the misfortune of working with.

It's the quantity at quality, the automation lines make it possible.
Even so, I wonder how many GA8-IPE1000G's it took to pay for all that?
All of them? Ha! I too am impressed that we can get these mobos for
the prices we do.
At the end, the burn-in all the mobos have to pass, now THAT is
something. 40C to start off with is something of a serious stress!

I can't say that. I've had Asus, Gigabyte, Abit, Soyo, JetWay and
Intel motherboards in the last few years that are all similar quality...
GOOD quality. And even Intels motherboard manual had mistakes, and not
just spelling. All the motherboards themselves were/are very reliable.
Several of these companies seem to have trouble with English speakers,
on the phone and in email. Of ALL of these, ABIT is the one
manufacturer that has responded the fastest, accurately and in decent
English to my questions. Gigabyte responds, not always quickly nor
always intelligibly. But that's a lot better than Intel never
responding AT ALL imho. Now that's a bit of my own mileage, obviously
yours has been different.
On another note; these people are the manufacturers and sell in bulk to
various distributors, and in turn go to different outlets. What says
that they have to respond to any but the distributors or outlets? They
do respond to end users and that's a plus. It would have been much
nicer if they'd actually been a help to you.

It kinda works. The PC will sometimes freeze-up every few hours. Stay away
from PCChips.
