Gigabyte G1 GTX 980 sli psu requirement......

Solution
GPU's never consume as much as the minimum PSU recommendations list. The 600 watt requirement is for the entire system and even then, depending on your system, you won't use that much. For example, I have a GTX 770 that recommends a 600 watt PSU but it only uses 225 watts at maximum load so if I had two in SLI running at maximum load then it would be around 500 watts for two 770's in SLI. Most of the time my GPU will not use 225 watts, maybe never. It could be closer to 200 watts or so.
600W for an entire system that includes a GTX 980, 980 doesn't chew 600w on itself (it would be scary if it did).

the 600w includes rest of the system like CPU etc, so for dual 980's you certainly don't need to double the wattage.
