I have a little bit of knowledge about PC components but this is from late 90's and early 00's so excuse me if I seem a little n00bish. (I know my IDE's but not too hot on my SATA's)

I have a Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H MOBO and have a HD and CD-R setup on the only available IDE port on the MOBO.

I'd like to use another one of my IDE HD's in this system for a dual boot. (One for browsing, the other for working offline on my music).

Due to the lack of IDE connections I bought an IDE>SATA converter and have connected and plugged the second HD in. When I boot up, the system can see everything except the new SATA connection. I have tried the settings in BIOS, IDE, RAID and ACHI. (When I set up ACHI in BIOS, Windows saw a new PCI device and I installed drivers, but isn't available in 'My Computer' or as a bootable HD in BIOS.)

If I've missed any info, let me know and I'll post it up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it didn't work, would windows still have wanted me to install the drivers when I switched it to ACHI in BIOS?

I'd like to presume that it does work. If it does, is there anything else that could be recommended?
