I just purchased a Gigabyte GA-A8AENXP-D motherboard, P4 3.4GHz 800M LGA775 processor, 1GB of DDR2 PC2-5300 RAM, GeForce 6600GT PCI Express video card, two 200GB SATA HD's and a nice 600w power supply. I took the time to read the motherboard installation manual and even double checked all of my connections. When I applied power to the new 600w power supply, there was a distinct electrical burn odor. I never even turned it on! Once I noticed the smell, I quickly unplugged the power cord and all connections to the board. The PSU is definitely dead, but how can I tell if the MB or any of the components are fried? I spoke to the MFG of the PSU today and they said that they would cover the cost of the board if I could prove that the PSU caused any of the damage. Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

What brand is the PSU?

The way I see it it's them who have to prove it isn't the PSU which damaged to board. It'll be very hard for you to prove this.

Premiere...and I agree. But they don't seem to see it that way. I may have to pull out my "People Skills" on this one!
