Hey i recently got a pc from someone who bought a new one because the old one (the one i got from him) didn't work anymore.
I used the amd FX-8350 that was in it and the power supply in a new build.

But when i try to get it to boot it just powers up the fans and the cpu (i felt it getting hot when i removed the cooler and started it up for like 2 seconds)
I don't get bios, not a single beep from the motherboard speaker i installed, nothing!

Here's what i used in the "breadboard" configuration:
Corsair CS650M (older)
Gigabyte GA-970A DS3P Rev 1 (Brand new)
Gigabyte windfore gtx 760 (older)
Hyperx fury, ddr3, 1600 mhz, 8 Gb, dual channel RAM (new)
CM Hyper TX3 EVO cpu cooler (new)

Now, i tried replacing the psu with another one, i switched the gpu with my gtx 970 from my main build, i tried 4gb ram from another pc in every configuration possible, i've reset the CMOS a couple of times... All with the same result: fans keep spinning, nothing else.

i'm just done. Is the motherboard simply dead?
I've seen other people with the same problem, and there i found that the BIOS might not be properly updated to work with the fx 8350. Can this be the case?

Thanks in advance,
a desperate computer builder

Solution
its not a bios issue. the 8350 is support since the first bios version. you already said it didn't work for him anymore so it could be the cpu is bad. (it getting warm doesn't mean that its working right)

based off of "Now, i tried replacing the psu with another one, i switched the gpu with my gtx 970 from my main build, i tried 4gb ram from another pc in every configuration possible, i've reset the CMOS a couple of times... All with the same result: fans keep spinning, nothing else."

---it is very likely that the cpu was the issue in your friends old build as your have tested every other possible fault, two pc not working and only one component used in both of them....... the cpu.

No, i'm sorry i forgot to say that i ordered a new motherboard for it. The old one was Asrock
