Hello Im hoping someone has some advice for me. My system has been running fine for the last year or 2. A couple of days ago I turned it on, and had no post, not even a beep. Using my laptop I searched and found to try pulling the mobo battery and the power cord, wait 30 seconds or so and then refitted it all. Now I get a long beep and 3 short ones. Ive since tried to clear the cmos by pulling the battery and plug again this time for 2 minutes or so as per mobo instructions, and short the pins on the reset, I even held the power button down while the battery and cord were out to drain any residual power, and I still get 1 long, and 3 short beeps.

According to this website the beeps code says keyboard error. Bottom of page 102. http://www.manualslib.com/manual/433076/Gigabyte-Ga-990fxa-Ud3.html?page=102

I use a Logitech unifying USB mouse and KB, both of which still work on the laptop Im on now without issue using all the same parts (Mouse, KB, and USB dongle)

System is:
Gigabyte GA990FX UD3 Rev 3 I believe (cant find it on it now).
AMD 6 core black 6300
16gig Corsair Vengeance ram (2 x 8s).
250gig Samsung Evo SSD
1Tb Seagate HDD
Antec 620 watt modular PSU.
Was running a Gigabyte ?5450? graphics card but as I wanted to upgrade a little, and needed to check it I splashed out on an Gigabyte R9 27XOC today, I have installed but not been able to boot with the new graphics card either. The fault started with the old card so i m assuming the cards are not the problem.

Win 7

I have pulled both ram sticks and tried them one at a time, same 1 long 3 short beeps.
Ive tried two graphics cards as mentioned already.
I tried booting with no drives at all.
I tried to run off the HDD alone, and the SSD alone.
Always the same result, 1 long, 3 short beeps.
I havent stood on my head and sung Im a little teapot yet, but Im almost wiling to give it go lol.

I do not have a corded keyboard to test with, is that what I need to get? Or is it more likely there is a fault in the MB or Bios etc?

I have a had couple of crashes in the last month or so.

Thankyou for your answer cin19, how do you know its got AMI BIOS? Is it because of Rev 3? It is by the way Rev 3, I verified it off the board, after i posted I finally found it again.

I just tried both sticks one at a time in all 4 slots, no change. I might be able to check the RAM in another PC, Ill get back to you. Lets assume the RAM works fine in another PC; does that lead to the conclusion its the MB? Im leaning there now as I wouldnt expect 2 sticks of quality RAM to die simultaneously. Anything is possible, but some things are just so unlikely.

EDIT: I found BIOS brand under specs on the Gigabyte website. No idea why I couldnt find it yesterday. AMI it is.
