I am building my first computer and I don't know if the Asus Maximus Hero Vi is a better motherboard. I see it a lot in YouTube videos and such, so I'm assuming it's pretty good. Should I change to it instead of my current? Also will my specs be compatible with it?

Yeah. But you'll have three SATA 3 ports spare with your setup on a Ranger, instead of five like you would with the Hero.

I must commend you on your choice of parts as well, all good quality components.
The one thing I would pick out though would be to go for the 850 EVO over the 840 EVO. The 840 EVO has an issue where the drive slows down over time, and Samsung haven't been able to fix it with driver updates yet - the 850 EVO doesn't suffer from these issues.

Aside from that, nice build!
I've got the Ranger, which is a slightly lesser version of the Hero (fewer Sata ports, less capacitors, etc.) and it's a fantastic board. I can't speak for the Gigabyte, but if the Hero is even only slightly better than the Ranger, then it's a fantastic board.

But I will say that going for anything above the Hero wouldn't really be worth it (with the exception of above 2xSLi capability), as Intel CPUs aren't quite so dependent for performance on the motherboard as AMD CPUs are.

Okay. Is everything compatible?

Thanks! I have already switched to the 850 EVO, but simply just forgot to change it. :)
