I've recently added a second SATA hard drive to my gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLi motherboard but I cannot get the drive to appear on the system. It's not recognised on POST or by windows. I've swapped ports and cables with the other drive so I know its not that. I then tried to update the BIOS to the latest F120 (currently F6) using @BIOS but at 50% I got an error message saying that it had failed. When I re-booted the machine the new drive appeared in POST but would not boot any further and locked up. I reset the BIOS from the backup file on the 2nd BIOS chip and the machine now boots OK but won't see the 2nd drive. I then tried flashing the BIOS using QFlash which completed OK but when you try to reboot the system it locks up but pressing the reset button seems to clear this and it boots OK but still say the BIOS is version F6.

Am I being really stupid here or am I missing something?

Cheers

Neil

The first drive is also a SATA drive and this works OK. I installed the SATA drivers that came with the MB or are there additional drivers that I need?
