Hey guys,

I`ve recently got a new build and am having trouble with my Gigabyte GA-X99-Ultra Gaming Board detecting all of my Ram. I`m using the latest Bios from the website.

My CPU is an i7-6950X. For RAM, I am using a 4x16gb 64gb kit of CORSAIR Vengeance LED 64GB - CMU64GX4M4C3200C16. It`s DDR-4 3200.

In order to use Quad Channel Memory, I am supposed to use slots 1, 3, 6 and 8 according to the manual.

When putting my Ram in these Slots, the Bios of my board only detects 48 GB of memory. It seems to be a problem with slot 6 as I`ve tried rotating the memory into different slots and it never detects the memory that gets put into this slot.

If put the memory in slots 1 - 4 it detects the full 64gb of ram but it is not quad channel. To me, this means that there is no problem with the ram itself but with slot 6 or compatibility of the ram and mainboard in quad channel mode in general.

I`ve tried various different memory bios settings as well as different bios versions but it doesnt make a difference. The board does not boot as well with just one stick in slot 6.

Any ideas what could cause this or how to fix it?

Solution
Hi, It might be a bent pin in the CPU socket, or an over-tightened CPU cooler. Try loosening a bit the CPU cooler. If still the same, try removing the CPU and check the socket.

Was that the answer? I have the same problem only with 8 ram modules with 8gb each... there is only 48gb detected.

Slots 5 and 7 seems not to work. In every other slot the pc starts fine, but with 1 stick in this slots, it just keep starting and crashing in a loop.

Edit: The strange thing is, CPU-Z sees 7 ram modules, and a total RAM of 56gb

The Bios Update was the first thing i tried, sadly it didn't help. I checked the board ouside the case this morning, dind't changed something neither. Slowly i think it's a warranty thing, i buyed the board on saturday an it never showed all ram.

Edit: What in addition is odd to me, when i start the computer, first there is a 10-20 second pause, in which the cpu fan is on and all the leds but theres nothing other happen, even the graphiccard stops the fans, and after that pause the boot logo is on the screen an tha graphiccard fans run as normal. But i don't know if this is normal with that board.

In order to use Quad Channel Memory, you supposed to use slots DDR4_1_1A , DDR4_3_1B , DDR4_7_1D and DDR4_5_1C
slot 6 is used in 8 modules of ram any stick in this slot The board does not boot
