Hey fellas! Used this site to answer many questions over the years and this is my first time posting (which is something my computer is having an issue with... ZING!).

So here's the deal: this is my first rig. My friend has been building computer since he was 12, he is now 26, and we put this together two days ago:

Gigabyte ga-z170xp-sli
i5-6600k
ADATA 480GB SSD
Some 1TB HDD I yanked from my old HP
2x8GB G.Skill Ripjaws V 2133 DDR4
nVidia 970
DVD drive, a wireless card that is temporarily removed, and F6H BIOS

So here's my story. To start off, the default BIOS was F3. We got everything put together and it was working fine. I got it home and it blue screened after about an hour. It repeated this, happening sooner and sooner, something upon loading Windows. We had an issue getting it to POST with the wireless card in a certain PCI-e slot so I removed it but it didn't help. I ended up being dumb and not realizing that my drivers weren't *all* up to date (the panic of having access for like 1-3 minutes at a time made me hasty) and read that BIOS updates helped with Skylake. I downloaded the latest for my board that wasn't a Beta version, 4, and went to flash it. I've done this before so it was no big deal. I went in and used qflash but then nothing, just 5 long beeps. I removed the wireless card, associating the beeps with the aforementioned issue, to no avail. I left the card out and removed a ram stick and it booted. I switched the ram sticks and it booted. However, together it will not boot. I've tried telling the BIOS to optimize settings and no help. Sadly, my PC keeps blue screening, even in safe mode, although safe mode seems to allow for slightly extended use. I've caught a few blue screen errors on my phone, but they seem to vary. Common errors are:

0x0000001e
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I also ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic test and it immediately found an issue. Also, in the BIOS I cannot find an option for XMP. My ram says the timing should be 15 15 15 15 and in the BIOS it says 15 15 15 35 with no way to change it (seemingly).

The only thing I haven't tried for the blue screening is updating my SSDs firmware.

Oh, another thing: it also blue screened while doing a fresh Windows install. Never seen that before.

First off the correct timing for your CL15 RAM is 15 15 15 35.
Secondly you failed to mention the Windows version but I'm assuming it's 8.1.
Question: Did you perform a clean Windows installation or did you use an old installation from another computer ?
Because if that is the case it will never work properly even if a Microsoft zen master comes and manually optimizes all drivers.

Also be sure to properly place your RAM DIMM's in the slots:

Yes, I noticed that the timing is correct. I didn't have my glasses on the first time I checked for the timing haha.

My Windows version is 7, x64, clean install on the SSD.

having the same problem myself with similar specs. did you figure out a solution?
