Hi everyone!

I just bought the Gigabyte gc-wb867d-i type wifi card for my desktop pc. I noticed that there is an external USB port on the card, called R_USB. Does anyone know what the purpose of this port is? I tried to connect it to a rear USB port on my motherboard with a male-to-male USB cable for Bluetooth operation, because I don't have any free internal USB headers left, but I can't seem to use Bluetooth on the PC. Can this R_USB port be used for Bluetooth operation, or is it for another purpose?

Thanks in advance!

The manual only mentions an internal USB port. The English manual is pretty thin on what the USB connection actually does. But as you say, it is to handle the bluetooth connectivity between the card and the MB.

So perhaps you have a different version of the card with an external USB bluetooth option instead of only the combined wifi and Bluetooth antenna function that is listed in the manual. But it maybe something else entirely.

The only reference close to R_USB is an obscure Intel page for an apparently outdated use; "USB-R presents remote drives as though they were connected via a USB port."

Thank you for your answer. I own revision 2.0 of the product. If you check this version on the page you found you will see, that the R_USB I was talking about is a simple usb port that was soldered onto the pcb. I tried using this to make bluetooth work by plugging it in my mobo but it doesn't do anything :/ I guess I should get an internal usb splitter huh? :/

Im having the same exact issue. Havent figured it out yet.

Use the internal USB connector (5-pin) to connect bluetooth to your internal USB ports. The USB-A port can be used for plugging an extra USB device - just tested it with an old USB stick. I'll use it to plug in a card reader.

Through experience, the USB header on the back of the card is for Bluetooth. There's also an external USB Port on the rear of the card that is just passing through the second USB port (since USB headers on the motherboard is 2 USBs on one connector) so you could use that for anything. but I will warn you that you probably shouldn't use the internal connector for anything wireless. I assume you could use that port for some RGB controller or fan speed controller, since I've seen a lot of those type of things just use a normal Micro USB(swap the cable with a spare cable).
