So I just got a brand new Gigabyte G1 gaming gtx 1070 and I have been having some big problems with it thus far. I have been playing Witcher 3 for about a month with my 970 and never had a single crash. This is after over 130 hours of gameplay. So as soon as I installed my new 1070, In the past couple days I've been having the game crash nearly every session I have. The screen just completely freezes until the game eventually goes back to desktop.

One important thing to clarify here is that I get no error message and no black screen. It doesn't say that the display driver has crashed or anything.

Originally I figured this was do to the overclock it being a new card I haven't figured out yet. So I decided to run Heaven and figure out what my max overclock was. Unfortunately I am getting constant black screens in the heaven benchmark even with 0 overclock.

The screen will turn black for a few seconds and then it will just continue the benchmark. This is with absolutely 0 overclock to the core or the memory.

Anybody know what's going on here? I'm starting to worry that I got sent a defective card or something.

I did run the program when I first installed the card but yet halfway through re-installing my drivers Geforce experience said that I had to close a few programs which I had never seen happen before. After running DDU again it seems to be working this time. I think it might have been an error the first time I installed the drivers.

Appreciate the simple solution lol.

No problem, hope it fixed all your issues. An error while installing or uninstalling will usually cause issues.

Always good to start with the easier stuff first. Get those out of the way and then start looking at the bad stuff like defective hardware, if not fixed.

Enjoy the card, glad to see you didn't pay nVidia's version of the Apple tax...aka Founders Edition (reference design)
