Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti Aorus + i5 8400 bottlenecking in every game!

Hello everyone,

I recently invested in a new Gigabyte 1080 Ti Aorus to replace my GTX 970. Having set up my new system, I tried playing The Witcher 3 on maximum settings (no VSync, no FPS limitation) and monitored my GPU and CPU usage. Is there any plausible explanation why FPS stick to about 75-90 although my CPU and GPU usages are both at about 70-85 %? In my opinion, the GPU usage should increase to 99 % as long as the CPU usage stays below 100 %, which is not the case.

Has anyone got any idea why the system behaves this way?

Here are my specs:

Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti Aorus 11GB
i5 8400
8 GB DDR4 RAM

I measured the values using MSI AB and attached a screenshot.

Thanks in advance!

I have the same exact issue, I just recently upgraded from a 1060 to a 1080 ti and facing this problem, I have a 1080p monitor @75 hz. My processor the i5-8400 is bottlenecking my gpu big time in games like BF1, Witcher 3, Vermintide, GTA 5. Some people suggested that moving to a 1440p monitor @ 144hz should help a lot with the bottlenecking. I currently have my own thread about this issue. Still waiting for the best solution.
