I installed a second 970 in my computer not too long ago. Things seem to be working fine, as far as I can tell (this is my first SLI) but the other day I noticed something odd. As you may know, a Gigabyte GTX 970 (G1 Gaming edition) has the Gigabyte logo illuminated by a blue LED on the side, and the LED on the original 970 is slowly pulsing for some reason. I'm not sure if this is a new development, or if it was always doing this, but the new card doesn't have this problem. Normally, you can set these LED's to do whatever you want them to in the GeForce experience, including this pulsing effect, but no matter what I set the LED settings to, the top card continues to pulse. The other day I reinstalled the drivers from the manufacturer, and that seemed to do the trick, but after turning the computer back on today, the screen flashed, and it went right back to pulsing.
It seems to be harmless from a glance, but not only is it a bit annoying, I'm worried it also may be an indicator for something more serious. Has anyone ever encountered this, and how can I make it stop? Is this just a harmless visual problem, or is it some kind of warning?
