Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 or OC?

I know there are already some threads on this but none hit the mark. My question is pretty easy, I have a red PC and don't want to break the warranty on a G1 by replacing the led. So would it be that much more worth it to get the G1 performance wise, or is there a way to covertly change the LED without voiding the warranty?
