I am planing to overclock the card and I want to know will the g1 be able to fit in Cooler Master CM 690 III. I heard that MSI has coil whine and that g1's fans die fast so I dont know which one to choose. Also g1 is like 6-7€ more expensive if that matters

Solution

Both are great, the performance difference will not be noticeable.

I personally use an MSI GTX 970 and i would recommend it to anyone who is interested in purchasing a GTX 970. Also i have the exact same case as you!

However the Gigabyte G1 will do as well so honestly i would choose either 1. color matches your theme or the cheaper one, which in this case is the MSI GTX 970.

VGA card length:
423 mm / 16.6 inch (without cage)
312mm / 12.3 inch (with SSD cage)
280mm / 11.0 inch (with HDD cage)

You need to remove HDD/SSD cages, since G1 gaming is 312mm .

MSI will fit without any problem.

Gigabyte comes with higher factory OC and will be slightly faster.

Sure it'll fit in that case. Also, I've heard nothing but praise for Gigabyte's G1 cards personally, they strike the right balance of functionality and aesthetics. I don't think you'll have any issues, and the extra couple pounds you spend will increase thermal and acoustic performance.

Do not get the STRIX GTX 970, it performs the worst out of all of them.

Honestly every single manufacturer is going receive some sort of negative comment. Those people that complain are a tiny minority so i think you should just choose depending on the color or the MSI since it is cheaper. If you have issues later on you can simply send it to customer service.

Why not the asus strix? I have the gtx 960 strix and very happy. May not be factory overclocked, but if you get their app theres a simple one click overclock button to overclock it a little, or you can overclock it manually. The cooler is awesome, temp never goes over 60 and its pretty hard to hear it

1. All other manufacturers will cool as well or better. Same goes for the program, every manufacture provides a program.

2. One of the many benchmarks that suggest STRIX GTX 970's perform the worst :
