Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce $100?

My co worker is selling his used Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce for $100. I just want to know what you guys think. Good deal or bad deal? The gpu looks like a 5 year old card but I think the question is if I’m gonna spend $100, should I buy something up to date at $100?

Do a stress test for little while before buying (Ask him to do that). So you can get to know about the performance and cooling capabilities of that card compared to the other cards.

Don't buy just because of a display output there may be problems with cooling and so...

Being 5 years old, tell them you need a couple of days to run and benchmark it.

I don’t want to start another topic on the stress testing and benchmarking. But what can obviously go wrong? like old gpu can randomly reboot during gaming and overheating?

System locking up, boot issues, if you start noticing artifacts on screen, graphic issues, etc.

$100 is the average price that a used GTX 970 sells for on Ebay US. Your friend's CPU is a "fine" deal, but nothing extraordinary.

10 bucks more....maybe worth looking at.

You can't really see it apparently, but I linked a card on ebay. On chrome on my pc I can't see the link but I can mouse over it. Not sure...

Side note, will say I suspect the card may have been mined on. He has 2 seller feedbacks in the last 6 months. Both positive, but they were for a 470 and maybe a 580? But both mentioned mining. So not sure despite the description.
