gigabyte (gtx 970 xtreme edition) vs sapphire (r9 390x) for 1080

im gonna build my pc but i i dont know what should i choose ?
my screen is just 1080p so i think i cant play on 1440 so what is better for 1080

because the gtx 970 is about 100 bucks cheaper, and the r9 390x wont give you much more performance at 1080.

The 390X shouldn't be compared to a 970. Compare the 970 to a 390. The 390X is about $50-$100 more than the 390 and offers about 1-10 FPS more. Anyway, to answer your question: in 1080p between the 970 and the 390 (without the X) the 970 wins but in 1440p the 390 wins, but since you said you won't be playing in 1440 go with the 970.
