I am looking forward to get me a new GTX 980 Ti. I was thinking about this particular gpu (Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti G1 SOC) : http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-980-ti-g1-gaming-soc-review,1.html

I would preorder it, because its not yet available. Is this GPU a good choice ?
I mean, the core clock is pretty high, 1190 MHz and 1291 MHz boost (OC Mode). As far as I have heard, Gigabyte is a very good brand for GPUs cause of their windforce cooling. Is there maybe a custom 980 Ti with a higher clock or something ?

rest of my rig :
i5 4690k
8 GB of RAM (1866 MHz)
Windows 8.1 64 bit
PSU : XFX 550W Gold rated

Unless you run 1440p or some kind of high res setup (ie. multiple screens, 4k or the afformentioned) there is almost no need for this gpu.

It is epicly powerful and will handle anything you throw at it within reason.

However like I say, a GPU like this is pointless unless matched with the right viewing hardware.

Wait a week or three. AMD will be announcing their new flagship AMD Radeon Fury cards this morning. Pricing is unknown until the announcement, but rumored to be very aggressive. This could force prices across the board to come down if the rumors are true.

P.S. Seems the 16th is tomorrow... LOL

What do you want to say, that Nvidia will lower the price for their 980 Ti ?

I know, but I am playing GTA V right now, and I cannot max the settings out in 1080p with my shitty GTX 970, there is stuttering cause of the 3,5 GB vram. Thats the reason I want to buy a 980 Ti right now, and in the future, I am planning to buy a 1440p monitor...

Stuttering on GTA 5 is not down to Vram my friend.

The game is VERY demanding on the highest settings and it can be combated with very simple changes and optimization.

You would find for the price you are paying the perfromance gained would be rather disappointing.

No Single GPU, even a 980 TI/Titan X can "max" gta 5. So you need to manage your aims/hopes a bit.

Use this to make performance a lot better right now and then think about what you want afterwards and if 550 GBP or 700 dollars will really be worth 15-20 FPS more in one game.

I have 980ti and can play at max settings

as for the question i think everything depends on price how much will that overclocked version cost and how much reference,if the difference is big then i suggest buying reference version,you will still be able to overclock it

Maxed out MSAA? Maxed out advanced rendering? Maxed out shadows/grass? Nvidia TXAA?

...not what people have been reporting on review sites...

Prove us wrong and show us settings and a fraps (with log)

You do not need MSAA or TXAA, or anti aliasing over 2x at 4K resolution. And if you can set it to 2x, it can probably go away for most of us on 4K and we would never notice.

Its funny how as we move things up the food chain, and the problems seem to just melt away on their own. By the time we get to 8k monitors, no anti aliasing technology will be needed at all. It will be as dead as an old CRT monitor.

4k is really, really close. So once we get to 8k, that's got to be good enough.

3840x2160 = 8,294,400
7680×4320 = 33,177,600

If 8.2 million pixels is as close as being there as I see it as, 33.1 millions pixels most certainly will be. But then some marketing geek will decide to push 16k video... LOL

15360x8640 = 132,710,400

At 132.7 million pixels per frame, it better crawl right off the screen and embrace ya! If not kiss ya!!
