Good morning, I have this gpu: Gigabyte GTX970 G1 4GB Windforce (reference card). When I play the game. This one: https://www.alza.sk/EN/gigabyte-gtx-970-g1-gaming-4gb-d2173239.htm?o=4

When I am idle i have temps like 30-40 Celsius degrees.

When I play mostly it stays pretty stable on 68 Celsius. However, somtimes I noticed the card went to 70-78Celsius degrees!!!! Is this normal? Or is there some problem?

Is my GPU overheating and should I RMA it?

thanks for help

That's too high. Either you have poor airflow in your case, it's really hot in your room, or you have some problem with the GPU. People have reported around 60 degrees temps under full load in stress testing. If the problem is not in your setup then you should RMA it.

I don't agree with RMA it. The card will run fine at 78C and still safe. It's still designed to cool sufficient enough at these temperatures.
Certain games do make the graphic card work harder.
Plus it may have been set to GPU boost until the temperature reaches 78C

Reaching 40 degrees idle is not normal, by any means. But yeah that's why I said "if the problem is not in your setup".

yes, too hot! i have 2 of them, and they idle usually 1-3 decrees above my rooms temp, and usually hover in the 50s, maybe hitting 60 while gaming. however this does not mean your card is bad. as stated before, you should first look at the air flow in your case. its going to be hot if it cant get the heat away from it.
