I have this gigabyte h61m-d2h motherboard.

I would like to know if intel g4560 is compatible with this motherboard or not?

If no, then can you suggest a processor within same price range which could be compatible with this motherboard.

your motherboard is much older than pentium g4560
or any other skylake/kaby lake/coffe lake intel processor and it is not compatible with any of them .
you need to search for older sandy/ivy bridge used processors .
you should be able to get i5 2500/i5 3470/i5 3570 for roughly the same price these days / but i7 would be better .

i can get a second hand good condition i5 2400, will it be compatible, it seems pretty good for a 2nd generation cpu

Depending on which revision motherboard you have, these are the supported processors. Personally, I'd be looking for a third gen processor.
