Gigabyte H77M vs B75M

CPU: Core i7 3770 (non-k)
OC: Big NO!
Ram: 16GB 1600mhz 2x8
Vga: MSI GTX 660 TF OC
Cpu Cooler: CM Hyper Evo 212
Boot device: 500GB WD HDD (not SSD since im installing Deepfreeze)
Storage Device: 1TB HDD
Not doin any raid or stuff like that
PSU: 650w PSU

CPU Usage: More on graphic design... must run Starcraft 2 in high to ultra settings.

If you have a spec listed above, what would you buy considering youre not overclocking? no overclocking at all. Also, wont consider SLI or Crossfire.

1. Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H or
2. Gigabyte GA-H77M-D3H

Why?

if you want ultra then put a Ti after the 660

Make sure the psu is good brand like corsair antec xfx etc

My suggestion out of those two Gigabyte GA-H77M-D3H

If you don't need two SATA 6Gb/s ports or a PCI Express x1 slot, then I'd suggest the less expensive B75 motherboard.

i just only need one PCI-E x16 slot for the video card... Regarding the vga btw, i really dont need a ti version... there is very little difference in performance between 660 and the 660 ti. the ti is way overpriced IMO. So maybe ill stick with the non-ti.

Strange, The link works fine for me, we let me spellout the difference in typing..

"The B75 is more a 'business' orientated chipset with SBA (security), and no OC of either CPU or RAM; the H77 is more consumer oriented with SRT (Smart Response Technology), and OC of RAM (Ivy Bridge only) but no CPU OC.

If your plan is to use the SSD + HDD as a cache then yes you'd need the H77 chipset for SRT. "

A overclocked 660Ti will give you better performance as the 660ti is actually a cut down GTX680 chip and can overclock better than the non Ti, where as the non ti 660 is completely different chip developed by Nvidia, Having said that when those are @ stock, performance difference will not be Huge.

Also theres 7870XT Nearely as good as the HD7950 If you google you will get more info on each card.

But yes what ever you buy you can play @ ultra may be frame rates will very card to card.

hmm okay... thank you for the inputs...so maybe ill stick with the B75. I have no plan of overclocking the CPU and RAM. Overclocking the RAM is pretty pointless. Im also not using SSD for my boot device. I heard installing Deepfreeze on SSD may cause issues and i dont want that.

Ill stick with the 660. i also have no plans of oC'ing the video card whatsoever. Ill just use the stocck freq of both cpu and vga. Hell NO for AMD/ATI cards. Thank you!
