Hi there, have had a look in forum, can't quite find a satisfactory answer, please some help.

I have changed from a gtx 560 to hd 7850 gigabyte 2 gig oc card believing after looking around a fair bit that it would be a half decen improvement.

Unfortunately the card appears to run games at a lower fps, and all images appear to be a bit blurred / less sharp.

I5 3450
8 gig ram
Win 8 64 bit
600w psu, card recommends 500 so should be nps

Bios recognizes card and dx 11 as running.

Did I get my hopes up a bit too high or maybe I have forgotten to do something / any tricks with the catalyst software?

Thanks in advance.

Well, it should be about a 10% improvement, which is actually not much, i.e. ~+5 FPS on a game that runs at 50 FPS. That won't even be noticeable, and add in the fact that more of the popular games will favor Nvidia cards, then it's not a big surprise that you would be disappointed.

All the same, be sure to turn off Morphological Antialiasing (MLAA) in the Catalyst Control Center. It is a main culprit for blurry text and textures. Second, be sure to update your motherboard drivers to ensure that the PCIe 3.0 video card is being properly supported. Third, make sure that you uninstalled every last bit of Nvidia drivers (including PhysX, sorry buddy) and install the latest drivers from the AMD website.

Thanks for the rapid responses. I will double check everything and hopefully find a solution. The point above on blurry text is hopefully a fix.
Last point if I can return it - will try. A gtx 660?

Those benches are incorrect... There is no way that a 660Ti out does a 7950 at 1920x1200...

But if you replace it with Nvidia I would recommend the 660Ti IF you can afford it. But the 660 will still suffice

Sorry let me try answer all questions before I go bed as you all been good enough to respond.
Games - wow, gw2, skyrim, crysis 4 and bio shock infinite.
Psu - I actually don't know and I have close it all up again.
I did not uninstall everything nvidia. I left a few things that seemed independent.
All latest drivers for catalyst - downloaded today from amd
As for 2d or 3d mode I am a not sure how to differentiate (not tech savvy) but either in game or on desktop it appears less defined and blurry.
Both text and imaginary. I appreciate the cards are close, I wasn't expecting a massive fps boost, just prettier picture and more stable fps.
Which all seem worse currently

Thank you. Let me sleep on it and try tomorrow evening the suggestions and report back

Uninstall the driver, CCLeaner or other program to clear up registry and then install old version. Takes less than 5 minutes. I actually had to do it today.
