Hey,
First post, going to be as thorough as I can.
Specs:
Asus P87ZZ-V motherboard
Intel i7 3770k
Gigabyte HD Radeon 7970
Corsair Professional 750w PSU
2x4gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3 (replaced already)
Noctus NH-D14 Aftermarket cooler
Problem:
Occasionally when playing games system will lock, go black screen, and program will crash to home screen. Error states "AMD Driver has stopped responding and has recovered". Weird part is that it never happens when I am playing very intensive games (most often happens when doing dailies in WoW or when my son is playing Minecraft, neither of which put any stress on the system).
Troubleshooting so far:
1) Deleted AMD Drivers, ran Driver Sweeper, and reinstalled AMD drivers
2) Ran CCCleaner to fix any registry issues
3) Replaced RAM (read somewhere it may have been a culprit), ran mdsched on new ram and it came back clean
I am pretty PC literate so be as technical as you need to be, but any help would be appreciated. I have a replacement motherboard and graphics card coming, but I would really rather not do a replacement.
