Gigabyte HD7950 poor performance.

I just got this card today the gigabyte hd 7950 and im getting weird lag whilst playing, and strange fuzzy horrizontal lines.
This is Counter Strike in the menu.

Its very laggy to move the mouse about with 16 fps.

Once i load the game the fps is ok, it goes to 300. But once i start in a firefight it starts jumping about and being laggy.

I ran the program cpu z to see if i could see anything.

That was with the render test on. It says x2 instead of x16 could that be the problem?

My specs are:
p8z68-v lx Board
I5 2500k @3,30ghz
Corsair ddr3 8gb
corsair cx750w PSU (brand new)
Windows 7 64bit

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. Made sure no nvidia or ati drivers still around.

What is your current drivers? The beta 12.11 catalyst? If so, roll back to the stable 12.10 and see if that solves your problem.

Im not 100% sure how to check? The driver packaging version is:8.982-120727a-145315C-ATI if that helps

I have the gigabyte 7950 and I run cs w/o probs but am running driver version 9.002-120928m-149042C-ATI... might be simple driver update fix
