That second picture really looks like a deathadder.

There should be a standard API (in DirectInput, maybe?) for controlling mouse illumination. Then, games could actually make use it to show things like what mode you're in.

So it's a deathadder with a bit wider body, a proven sensor, 2 more buttons, DPI indicator and RGB lighting. Sound like a solid mouse to me.

And it probably wont develop a double click issue like the deathadder. Id buy it after mine failed, too bad that was 6 months ago.

Usually just after the 2 year(warranty period) mark alot of the 2013s, and even the chromas have started getting a double click issue.
The tac switch gets worn, so one input is occasionally read as two.
