here are the specs and will a p4 1.7 ghz (478pin) will work (at 400 mhz fsb) right on this board??

Maybe will get a faster cpu when prices drop.

thanx in advance.

heya Face;

As far as the mobo goes go find some reviews on it, but in genral gigabyte makes good motherboards.

As far as the CPU goes you have a p4 1.7~400fsb Socket 478.

That board is designed to support as stated.
Processor:
Socket 478 for Intel® Pentium® 4 processor.
Front Side Bus:
800/533/400 MHz FSB

I was thinking thats a pretty good indication that it will support your CPU.

As far as running in dual channel mode, ive never tried running a p4~400fsb on a dual channel DDR board, so i cant answer that question, even though it will work in Dual Channel mode with RDRAM.

I hope this helps.

cool thanx for answering the question...
I was pretty sure it would run it and that gigabyte was a good board.

another one though if you would oblige

will it run my friends celeron 1700mhz???

Ill get more stats on it and post them when he gets to work. he was wondering the same as i was.

heya Face;

The 1.7Ghz~400 Celeron is socket 478, even though Gigabyte didnt say it would run the celeron in the information you gave us, i would say there is a pretty good chance it will.
