Gigabyte MotherBoard and GPU

Hi guys i have a Gigabyte z87n-wifi with a i5 4440 and a 500 PSU. i was wondering if i upgrade my GPU to a 1060 will it be compatible? 😀

As long as it's a decent 500w with the right PCIE connection , should be fine.

Compatible? Yes.

We'd need to know more about the PSU to say whether it's a good idea or not though. 500W is sufficient in theory, but the quality is where it really matters -1060's require additional power from the PSU, so there would also need to be available (and appropriate) PCIe connectors.

Can you provide the make/model or even serial number of the PSU?

all i know its a Cougar 500 Watt. and i dont know what my PCIE connection is. im sorry im new. would you know if it would be compatible?

It's not a great PSU , but the Cougar can run the 1060 with that setup.

I don't know much about Cougar PSU's, but I believe most are made by HEC. While it's not likely to be the best PSU ever made, it's likely far from the worst.

There should be a model number on it (RX, CS etc, I think?).
