I wouldn't jump to flashing the BIOS just yet. I'd recommend you to try resetting it first and see if that will make a difference in detecting the storage devices connected to the mobo. Here's a tutorial that explain a couple of ways to do this:

Keep in mind that this will get your BIOS settings back to factory defaults, so you'd need to re-configure them afterwards.
If that doesn't help, you should refer to your motherboard model's manual about updating the firmware (flashing BIOS). This should be your last resort to solve the issue, though. If your computer freezes, crashes, or loses power during the process, the BIOS or UEFI firmware may become corrupted. This will make the PC unbootable and it might probably brick the motherboard. So yeah, be careful.
