My Seagate Barracuda 1TB is not being noticed at all by the bios, it says there is nothing in the SATA port that I try connecting to. My Bios are updated to 2014.. I saw there was a 2015 update would that make a difference? thank you!

Hey there, @Cameron Dube!

I wouldn't jump to flashing the BIOS just yet. I'd recommend you to try resetting it first and see if that will make a difference in detecting the storage devices connected to the mobo. Here's a tutorial that explain a couple of ways to do this: http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS
Keep in mind that this will get your BIOS settings back to factory defaults, so you'd need to re-configure them afterwards.
If that doesn't help, you should refer to your motherboard model's manual about updating the firmware (flashing BIOS). This should be your last resort to solve the issue, though. If your computer freezes, crashes, or loses power during the process, the BIOS or UEFI firmware may become corrupted. This will make the PC unbootable and it might probably brick the motherboard. So yeah, be careful.

Hope I helped. Good luck! :)

Thanks so much for replying! I tried all of the above and it still doesn not recognize any hard drive at all. I switched cables around and everything, still no dice.
Additional info:
Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P
CPU: AMD fx-6350
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB

I really need help! Thanks you!

Hi again, Cameron!

That's very unfortunate! I'd recommend you now to check for any SATA updates on the drivers for your model or different SATA cables. Have you tried the drive on another computer? How does it get recognized there? Do you hear it spinning? If you manage to get it detected there, I'd recommend you to use the brand-specific diagnostic tool for that drive. This is going to help us determine what is the source of the issue.
If you already checked all of these and the reset did not help, maybe you should flash the BIOS now and see what happens. However, if you encounter any issues or don't understand something, refer to your manual or the motherboard manufacturer's tech support.
If the mobo is still covered by the warranty, they should be able to provide you with a replacement product.

Best of luck! :)
