Gigabyte motherboard problem

I bought a gigabyte h110m-s2h and paired it with a Intel I5 8400 without thinking about them being to outdated with each other to function. As I have built my pc I tried to switch it on but all I got was a brief 3 second power on and then straight off again. But when I unplug the CPU power cable it switches on ? Are they too outdated to work ????

You mean get the i5-8400 to work with your Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2H motherboard? No, there is no BIOS update available to make them compatible. They are incompatible -- period.
