Hi,

I'd like to know if there's a real difference between the Motherboard series from Gigabyte. If I got that right, they have the "base" series wich are named Ultra Durable and they have the G1 Gaming series.

Comapring these two for example:

What does justify the 120$ difference? Are the G1 series made with higher quality materials? Are they tested more than the UD series? better audio controller? I see one has 4 DIMM and the other 8 DIMM but 4 is way enough anyway. Are the VRM much better on G1 gaming series botherboards?

Let me know
Thanks! :)

Solution
G1 is EATX and UD3P is ATX , one have 4DIMM other 8DIMM ,UD3P have Intel GbE LAN chips and G1 Killer lan , G1 have better audio chip.
G1 have 8phase VRM , UD3P 6 phase.
Essentially all X99 boards are 'premium' products. That's what it takes to run a 140W CPU that can be overclocked to use close to 400W.
.
I believe that the G1 has 8 digital power phases, WiFi and premium sound and network options. The UD3 has 6 phases.

The capacitors, MOSFETs, chokes, and plating are all very similar.

Not a lot of difference for a 5820K, but yes if you want a 5960X.

So if I intend to overclock my CPU (being a 5930k), a VRM with higher phases should be the better pick here. I'll go with the G1 then.

To be honest, all those other sh*ts and giggles are worthless for me tho...
