I recently built a PC with a GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GTX 980 ti and an ASUS Maximus VIII Hero. I put the GPU in the second PCI-e slot, as my CPU cooler is the Noctua NH-H15 and it is so big it wouldn't allow me to put the GPU in the first PCI-e slot. The second slot is a PCI-e x8_2 slot according to what is written on my Mobo. When ever I try to launch OC Guru II, it opens fora brief second. The Windforce logo on my GPU isn't lit up and the Silent and Stop buttons are lit up. What is the problem?

UPDATE:
Uninstalled and reinstalled OC Guru II. Still can't get it to launch

It is well seated because NVIDIA GeForece Experience detects it, tells me fan RPM and utilization, but the fan RPM is at 0. My problem is that I can't access OC Guru II and am asking why I can't change the LED or turn it on. The silent/stop LEDs are on and during boot up the WIndforce logo is lit up and fans are all spinnnig,

Any sort of error messages, or error codes if the board has a two digit readout on it for error reporting. ?

Are all of the fans including the cpu fan connected to the motherboard.?
And of cause all the power required to the motherboard and the graphics card ?

And did you set the primary default graphics device to Pci-e or Peg mode first and save the changes in the bios.
Often if your getting a blank or black screen when you enter OC guru it`s because it`s displaying the output of it via the mother boards video ports displaying the display out put on there. Because the default primary interface display was not set to Pci-e mode in the bios.

No error codes. I launch up OC Guru II and it takes about 3 seconds, launches up for a split second and then just goes off. I barely got to see what the program looks like. I've tried re installing it. Still doesn't work.
All CPU fans are connected to MoBo
All power cords connected. My GPU requires 2 8-pin power connectors. Both are connected. Remember, GPU is in the second slot, which is a PCI-e x8_2 slot. It's not a PCI-e x16_1 slot. Is that causing the issue?

I understand that, but would like to change it so that the fans spin at certain RPMs under certain temperatures. I can't do that at the moment because as I stated earlier, I can not access OC Guru II.

You may of hit the nail on the head there and answered your own question.
The board could be looking at the first Pci-e card slot of the board.
And not checking the card. is present in the second one.

The only way to test that would be to get a riser Pci-e connector and cable, hopefully to allow you to connect the card via it to the first Pci-e slot. like this. Not a perfect solution but for around £4.00 a work around to get to the first Pci-e slot.

Or to buy a new cooler in any case.

You might be right, thanks for the advice, but why is that stopping the program OC Guru II from opening? That's what I want to know now. Thanks lol.
