gigabyte or MSI 970?

Solution
I have MSI right now. The card, for it's size, can really keep up with gigabyte for cooling even though gigabyte has a much bigger heat sink and 3 fans with a backplate. I don't have issues with the fan but I do get a low buzzing noise with the card itself it that others are reporting. It's only during benchmarks like 3dmark and not gaming. You can't really hear it unless you're right next to the card and I heard all the manufacturers have some issue like this. I ordered 2 more msi cards to see if they get the buzz noise as well.

The only actual negative that has me leaning towards purchasing 2 gigabytes when they get back in stock is the vrm temperatures. Gigabyte did a great job cooling them whereas msi's can get quite hot after a...
I think from all the top end GTX970's there's not really much to choose between them. I went for MSI, but I don't think you can go wrong with Gigabyte G1, Asus Stryx, MSI G4, and a few others. I'm very happy with mine if that helps, clocks very well too, and super quiet.

What about this one?

Gigabyte did a great job cooling them whereas msi's can get quite hot after a long time of gaming. I don't think it's a big deal because vrm is rated very high, but I don't feel comfortable when gigabyte cools it much better.

Now on the flip side msi card looks a lot better imo, oc just about as well as gigabyte, runs the core almost the same temperature at lower or no noise level and is much smaller to keep more room in your case and easier for sli.

I have received the other 2 cards and after taking the sticker off VERY slowly, I can say that the buzzing still exists but is even lower...so low that I have to put my ear lobe almost directly on the card to hear it during a benchmark. Due to this I'm thinking I will keep my MSI cards...I am quite impressed.

Also my previous fear with the VRM temps has been squashed after I looked at Guru3D's reviews for the 780ti and 290X. They did the same thermal images and both of those cards have the VRM nearly 100C and I've never heard any issues there. The 970 VRM was in the 80C range on Guru's tests and I personally did a test with an IR gun on my own card and I found myself around 70-80C under load.

MSI will work for me :). I may still get a gigabyte when they come back in stock just to see the size difference.
