Hello, Hopefully someone can help me.

I've got a gigabyte p35 ds3r. Much to my dismay after I got everything plugged in(the 4 pin cpu power included) I was met with a blank screen. The case fans, cpu fan and video card fan all power up. My monitor seems to power up, but the screen is just black. I don't think the motherboard has an onboard speaker and I don't believe my case does either(antec 900, I plugged in the audio from the case anyways.) Which definitely complicates things.

So I unplugged everything and I'm just running with a stick of g skill ddr 800 RAM, the cpu, and the vid card. The gskill isn't on the compatibility list..but I haven't heard people having trouble with it.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll find some spare parts to switch things out and narrow it down.

Here's what I'm running.
Intel e6750
Gigabyte p35 ds3r
2x1 GB G skill ddr 800
eVga 7600gt
Corsair HX620 power supply

Any ideas?

Thanks, will do. I don't have another processor to flash it with , so hear's to hoping

I ended up going out and finding a speaker to hook up and I got the everything is ok beep.

I tried my card in my friend's machine and he got a blank screen too, so I think it's the vid card. I put his vid card into mine and the speaker made a high pitch sustained beep, which was odd. Gonna probably RMA my video card. Or just upgrade now instead of waiting :p

You need to update your bios to F4 from gigabyte's site.Mine came with F3 and if you check the site a E6750 needs bios F4.I used a floppy thru the bios to flash it.

mcala: So it's possible to update bios with a non-functioning CPU on the mobo? I was about to order a P35C-ds3r and E6750 CPU when I discovered that the req was bios F2. If I understand you right I can update bios via say a flash card if it's delivered with the F1 bios?

You need a monitor to do the update, at least the ones I have done. Although, they were older boards, but I don't think things have changed. You also need a compatible CPU.

Gigabyte told me that the DS3P and Q6700 could be used to flash the BIOS with no problems, even though their website says it requires version F4.

Confirmation if anyone needs it: It's possible to flash bios with a "not supported" processor installed on the mobo. I bought the P35C DS3R with bios version F1 and an E6750 processor. I used a USB stick to flash with new biosversion via Q-flash, no problem.

Apologies in advance...

How do you work out which version your BIOS is? My new P35C-DS3R and E6750 seem to be working fine out of the box although I can't get the onboard sound to install the driver correctly - so do I need to flash the BIOS? If so, how the heck do I do that??!!

Download and install CPUZ. Click the MB tab and your BIOS revision will be listed. I doubt you BIOS isn the cause of you MB sound problem. Try installing the MB sound driver from the MB CD. After installation, you must configure the software to make onboard sound work.

Cheers Badge. With regard to the driver, I've tried the drivers from MB CD, the Gigabyte website, Realtek's website and Microsoft. Keep getting the same driver installation failure message from the wizard.

I've plugged in the old Audigy 2 from my old system temporarily but wanted to use onboard sound if it's as good as the Audigy/better so that I can sell the old system with it in.

I had a similar problem with my realtek on board audio chips. This fixed.
