They stress test it by using their equipment. They will probably pull X wattage through the power supply at X temperature for a period of time. If it doens't fail, it passes. If it fails then they give you a replacement unit.

As to what Badboy17 said, i would advise you still not to use it because your psu is not a true 550W power supply. It is not designed for working with a graphic card.Don't use it at all with your R9 270.
Wattage isn't everything. The amps on your psu is not enough for a R9...
Ok ill rather wait that corsair I had it in my system but it started make a ticking noise so I returned it now they are testing it so far they said they found no problem they are going to do a stress and load test how do they do that ?

Hi Suztera,

could you explain to me how do you calculate the required amps in the 12 v rail?

I've got a GV-R927XOC-4GD (270X OC with 4 GB) and I'm running this with a 550 W PSU and with only 18 amps in the 12 v rail.

I'm able to run any game, but in Windows 8.1 the brightness shifts creating a flickering effect, it doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen, do you think I'm dealing with a low amp problem?

Thanks,

L. Pinho
