I am looking to purchase my first PC build and I see on this site www.msy.com.au that there is two versions of the 290, the overclocked and non-overclocked version. I am happy to overclock the non-overclocked one myself however I was wondering if this will make it use more power or run hotter than factory overclocked version?

Hi,
I had a question earlier about computer components in Australia. He was looking for parts to be shipped in to Australia.
He sited high prices and lack of availability. Is that common?
they are the same cooler, same card and same everything. Just one is given the OC label in name and may have a small overclock done to it, Which you can easily do yourself. When a card is overclocked, more heat is produced but performance is also slightly increased. The Standard Gigabyte R9 290 is all you'll need.

I love MSY also, best PC store in Australia.

At the moment, PC case gear has a R9 290X windforce 3X OC for $599, very good price for over here.
