gigabyte radeon 9800 pro help

not to long ago i purchased a gigabyte 9800 pro from newegg and it was running fine till the fan in the heatsink stopped working. (sorry not trying to bash on newegg)
Friends tell me i can just buy like an overclocking heatsink and fan and replace the original manufacturer one.
I'm thinking tho can a pc case fan over the vid card heatsink keep it cool aswell? i mean its bigger then the one in the heatsink and can someone point to where i can purchase some nice fans or whatever cooling i need for the card. Plz help and thanks for your time,

I would recommend a Thermaltake Crystal Orb, or Vantec Iceberq4, they're very cheap, you can find them at newegg.
