GIGABYTE Radeon HD 5770 oc edition fan replacement

Hey all I have an old 5770 laying around and the fan seems to not work, I was wondering how and what fan it would need for replacement. The card it self is 100% fine I just cant stand to waste good cards if its only a fan not working.


GIGABYTE GV-R577SO-1GD Radeon HD 5770 is the full care model.

if the fan is just stalled, i have had a lot of luck pulling the sticker off the back of the fan where the bearing/bushing is, give it a shot of wd-40, or similar lubricant and away it goes again Some fans you can remove the fan part from the housing completely and clean out the shaft and bushing, add a drop of oil and put it back together to get a bit more life out of it.

It's actually pretty easy. The thermal paste is already applied to the new heatsink (and its pretty good paste, Arctic MX-4) and the heatsinks for the memory are stick-ons.

Should be 4 screws on the bottom and a wire to power the fan.
Use Rubbing Alcohol to remove the old thermal paste
Plug in the new wire for the fan and using the new screws to secure it

There should be instructions with the heatsink, but it's a pretty straight forward process.

That's not a bad a idea but i am more or less looking into replacing just the fan as a complete new Heatsink is a bit of a waste if I can refuse the existing one. I also have more then enough thermal paste laying around.

You can try lubing the old one, as the other poster suggested, and see if that works. You could try calling Gigabyte or going to their website to see if they sell just the fan. I don't know of a direct fan only replacement for a GPU other than that.

When my brothers 5770 had its fan seize up, I just replaced the whole HSF and it actually does a better job than the one from Sapphire that was on it.
