Hi everyone, I've got a situation where I need to somehow reset the main UEFI while only being able to boot from the backup UEFI. I can't even enter UEFI settings during the main boot.
Details:
I have a Z170X-Gaming GT with an M2 drive as the boot drive.
I had windows 10 and ultra fast boot enabled.
Boot order seems to have changed suddenly between reboots (uptime between reboots was 3 minutes)
Bad boot on main UEFI:
Boot does the blinking _ for a bit, then tells me I can either reboot and choose a new boot device, or insert bootable media.
It apparently does not check for other bootable drives during fast boot.
The USB keyboard is dead the entire bootup (I do not actually have a PS2 keyboard...)
Ultra fast boot is supposed to go back to normal mode during a failed boot- but it keeps blinking _ then complaining about boot media.
Troubleshooting:
Switch the UEFI/'dualbios' selector to 2, and a normal boot cycle commences.
I can enter UEFI settings, select my M2 drive, and everything boots as normal.
But now my main UEFI 'dualbios' seems dead.
I would really like to reset the main UEFI back to factory version and factory settings.
I've found some procedures from a couple years ago to reset the main _BIOS_ via a strange order of holding down the case power and turning on and off the power supply, but I'm concerned that instead of copying my current working UEFI setup to the non-working 'main' setup, it'll do the opposite.
Question:
How do I reset the main UEFI to factory version and factory settings, when I can't boot from the main UEFI, and have seemingly no ability to enter UEFI settings during bootup?
Thanks everybody!
