I just sent in my r9 280x oc to gigabyte, it popped and starting smoking with a flame. Are they going to be able to replace that exact card model or are they going to send me a different one?

If they have that exact model in stock, they'll probably send you one of those.
If they don't have one in stock, they'll probably send you a slightly better one.
They will not fix that specific one and send it back.
Only part I've received back from warranty exactly as sent was on overheating ASUS E350 motherboard. I assume they applied a BIOS update or re-applied the cooler. Couldn't keep it on long enough to troubleshoot and I had only had it two days. (Also I am really close to an ASUS service center)
