Hello

These are my components

i9-10850K
GIGABYTE RTX 3080 Eagle 10GB (Driver 461.40)
2x8 GB HyperX Fury 2133 RAM
MPG Z490 GAMING EDGE WIFI (MS-7C79)
Corsair RM850i (850W)

No matter what I do at some point when gaming my screens go black and I have to restart my PC to be able to see anything again.

I checked the event viewer and it seems like these 3 events always happen before/during the problem.

  1. File System Filter 'npsvctrig' (10.0, ‎2025‎-‎01‎-‎06T03:41:12.000000000Z) has successfully loaded and registered with Filter Manager.
  2. File System Filter 'atc' (10.0, ‎2020‎-‎11‎-‎28T17:42:33.000000000Z) has successfully loaded and registered with Filter Manager.
  3. File System Filter 'FileCrypt' (10.0, ‎2002‎-‎03‎-‎01T12:12:42.000000000Z) has successfully loaded and registered with Filter Manager.
Here's what I've tried so far not in order:
  • Factory reset Windows 10
  • Set GPU to debug mode in Nvidia control panel
  • Nvidia control panel>3D settings --> set power management mode to prefer maximum performance
  • Lower game settings (it even happens on not very demanding games like Hearthstone)
  • sfc /scannow in the CMD (admin)
  • roll drivers back with DDU
  • Add TdrDelay 10 decimal value in registry
  • Make sure that PSU cables are plugged in correctely
  • Make sure that GPU is in PCIE port correctely and that the cables are in as well
  • Windows Memory Diagnostic
Nothing has helped so far.

Do I need a new GPU? That would suck.

It’s not the age. As said I have seen numerous reports of issues which seem to stem from poor transient response performance of those models. I am not saying for sure it’s the problem but it stands out as a possible cause.
Got any recommendations? I would prefer a modular PSU. Also is there a way to test it out to see if it's the problem?
