Hey guys,
First of all, sorry in advance for my English, I'm from Argentina and it's like a rare custom I have. This is also my first time posting in a big community like Tom's, been getting your help since ages now.
Let's cut to the chase.
I bought a Gigabyte RX 480 8gb version a couple of days ago and, when I'm in-game (stressing it I would guess) the monitor goes black for a milisec and back to the app, but without noticable patterns. The app/game does not crash, but as I face areas of mayhem (more rendering I would guess) the screen goes in fact black and back.
I AM using a DisplayPort to VGA converter, as my monitor has a few years now and only has VGA output, and the 480 does not have DV-I (as i have been using with my old r7 260x).
I took it to Tech Support where I bought it, they stressed out for 2 days and tested, using the DP to VGA cord only, nothing went wrong or got any trouble, they told me it was fine. (Didn't tested it with games, such as Overwatch, in which i permanently face the error).
I took it back, put it in the case and same thing. Black screen pops up and goes back, intermittent and without patterns.
The strangest thing is that I get constant signal without a thing in the Desktop or youtube and such. Its only in couple of games I have installed: Overwatch, Bioshock: Infinite. Lowering the video quality does not solve it.

My rig:

fx8320 3.5ghz (stock clocks)
asus m5a97r2.0
8gb crucial ballistix
evga bronze 750w 80+
hyper 212 evo CM
no ssd

I don't have the monitor box and if you could tell me how to post the model I will.

I seek your help to identify the problem without me going insane.

Thank you very much,
HATE1

Solution
Sounds like a problem with your monitor if tech support didn't find anything. See if you can borrow a monitor and see if the problem still occurs. If the problem still occurs, maybe try a different cable, like hdmi to vga to see if it's a problem with the displayport on your graphics card. If you don't find a solution with either of these troubleshooting steps, than it might be a defect with the card or something along those lines. As a last resort you can try to contact Gigabyte's customer service and see if they know any solutions or if you can send it back for a replacement to the supplier you bought it from.

Thanks for the quick response, 1Reshiram12, I'll try to get hands on a hdmi monitor and change the DP cable to, before gettint to GPU guarantee. Thanks

I will change Monitor this week and try with the HDMI output.
I think it's a problem between my Monitor and the VGA to DisplayPort converter, but it's not about the cable.
